Green beans rock!

Let's just say Laney took to green beans better than she did cereal. Today she had her first green vegetable (the afore mentioned beans) and she ate the 3rd of a jar I served her right up. Takes after her sister I guess. We used to refer to Kat as the "Green Bean Fiend". Or it could be all the green beans she got in utero.

It finally fits!

Elena shows off her styling Texas A&M togs. Her Uncle Ronny and Auntie Lauren brought them to her when she was only 4 days old.

With . . .

And without bib.

Pictures of Little D

Or D3 or Spot as the little guy has been known so far. Derrick George Sinclair III is a mouthful after all. Happy to have pics of him and happy that's he here all safe and sound.
We've got one more cousin (on my side this time) coming May. He apparently has the interesting nickname of Deuteronomy.

Simple pleasures

I sit on my couch blogging, holding a precious sleeping baby girl. My tummy is full (yum, pizza). Work was busy but doable this week. Our new nephew was born this week and Mommy and baby are doing well. Kathryn is bringing her grades up and such as great kid.

I need moments like these - of contentment, of time to thank God for all I have been given, to balance out those all too often times of "why me?"

If you think your job is bad . . .

Today I was behind a truck on the freeway with the sign:

"Doody Calls
A Premier Pet Waste Disposal Service"

Life could be worse, you could be a professional pooper scooper.

I wonder how much business they get.

Look Dad no hands!

It's official, she can sit up. When I picked Elena up from the babysitter's today, the sitter was telling me how well Elena was sitting up. She was even able to catch herself with her hands when she would fall to one side. She apparently made it about 5 minutes in one sitting. Pardon the pun. And check this out:

That's her in the bathtub tonight. (I am such a sucker for a bathtub pic) And she sat up through the bath, made it easier on Rob. And she'll thank Daddy in the years to come for that well placed wash cloth.

Just Visiting

Laney got a visit from Daddy Ron and Mama Janie (my parents) this weekend. They said they were coming to see us all, but we know the truth. :) We had a nice quiet weekend. A little shopping, run of the mill groceries and diapers, watched some movies and just enjoyed each other's company. Oh and Dad helped Rob install a new ceiling fan in the nursery. Thank goodness, the old was sooo loud. It's been a few years, but Mama Janie still did pretty good at the cereal thing.
Check out the bib.
I can't tell which gaze is more adoring.

Christopher is a twit

So some of the other blogs I read go on about American Idol or 24, here I go about Gilmore Girls. This is my show. The one I show that if I miss it, it bugs me. And what I have to say about this week's episode - Christopher is a twit! (For those of you who don't watch he is one of the main characters, Lorelai's new husband and they have a 22 year history, he is the father of her daughter, Rory and he is a twit.) This week he found a letter Lorelai wrote about her ex-fiance and long time friend, Luke. So because Lorelai says nice things about Luke she is still in love with him. Because Lorelai doesn't want to move out of the house and town where she has lived for about 20 years and move to a place where she'd have to commute instead of walk to work, she is still in love with Luke. And because she doesn't want to have another baby (never mind that she is 38, has a 22 year old daughter, and has been married about an hour and a half) she is in love with Luke. I liked Christopher in the early seasons, but lately, yup you said it, he's a twit. They're setting things up for Lorelai to head back to Luke, and even though I hate the idea of divorce, I think I am for it in this case.

The show has gone down hill this year. The fire cracker pop culture dialogue is almost a no show (I can't remember any really great exchange since the one about the pickles). The wacky townies haven't been seen since the knitting episode, and even then they weren't that great. And Lorelai hasn't verbally fenced with her mother since she bailed her out of jail. It's a shame. I love the show, but I am beginning to hear the sound of a motorcycle revving for a trip over a shark tank.

And the winner is . . .

The contest - Most likely to keep Christmas with them all year long.

The Semi-Finalists:

Me - I just took down my wreath that I change with the seasons because I haven't taken the poinsettas and holly off it to replace it with the winter roses

My co-workers who haven't taken down their Christmas cards

The Finalists:

My neighbors - several of them still have their Christmas lights up and one still has one of those deer that light up and a bell hanging in their entry way.

But the winner, and Champion -

The house on my commute - who get this, not only has still their Christmas tree up, but also had it in a front window this morning, lit.

Yup, your prize is one very dusty Santa that was forgotten on an end table until October. Congratulations!

S.A.D.

I am tired of gray and cold. Living in Houston for the last few weeks has been like living in a film noir. It's always dark and rainy.

I like the cold, within in reason. When you start to be able to describe the high tempature as "something below" I stop enjoying it as much. But I once actually did have a good day skiing when the high was 2. Yup, 2 degrees Farenheit. But it was SUNNY! None of this gray crud. I am tired of it. And thus my title - S.A.D. It stands for Seasonal Affectiveness Disorder - meaning weather like this depresses your or makes you SAD!

It got to the point that I put a bright yellow sign in my office window today - "Come back Sunshine!" It worked, it was sunny this afternoon for a little while. I have magic powers. :) But they aren't very strong - tomorrow's forecast mostly cloudy. ugh.
